RE: Looking for Books to read... - redchild - Jun-18-2009 I liked Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card. Couldn't put it down. RE: Looking for Books to read... - Albertosaurus Rex - Jul-07-2009 The Neverending Story by Michael Ende just might be my favorite book of all time. Just try to get a decent edition that actually prints the text in red and blue. (There is a reason for this, be assured.) The Old Kingdom books by Garth Nix. Start with the first one, Sabriel, which was orinally written as a standalone, so if you don't like it, at least you'll never have to read on just for the sake of finishing the trilogy (as I sometimes do). But I doubt you'll dislike it. RE: Looking for Books to read... - n00854180t - Oct-19-2009 Although Legend of the Seeker (the TV show) is rather "meh" it's still a decent watch if you're a fan, IMO (despite the complete mishmash of the story they've done). That said, I never bothered reading past book 6 in the Sword of Truth, as the complete shift in focus in the 7th book interested me not at all. However, those first 6 were pretty good. Edit: I recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachett (just got done with it). If you like humour like this, I recommend 'Grunts!' by Mary Gentle. It's about middle-earth where Orcs are the good guys, elves are racist bigots, and halflings are thieves. |
