Although Legend of the Seeker (the TV show) is rather "meh" it's still a decent watch if you're a fan, IMO (despite the complete mishmash of the story they've done). That said, I never bothered reading past book 6 in the Sword of Truth, as the complete shift in focus in the 7th book interested me not at all. However, those first 6 were pretty good.

Edit: I recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachett (just got done with it).
